Since forming in the early 1990s East Northport, NY's ably named Negative Reaction let helped cast a bit interlingual rendition of Southern-styled slime and doom metal's murky shadow over the Gotham horizon. Founded and invariably commanded by vocalist/guitarist Ken E. Bones, world Health Organization has worked with a regularly ever-changing beat section over the long time (in the early 2000s comprising bassist O.D. and drummer John McDonald), the band has issued several 7" singles and EPs to go with their four-spot albums: 1996's Endofyorerror, 2000s The Orion Chronicles, 2003's Everything You Need for Galactic Battle Adventures, and 2006's Under the Ancient Penalty.

Senator wants to cut royalty rate

Wants to attach amendment to 'orphan works' bill





WASHINGTON -- One of the entertainment industry's biggest Senate critics is attempting to kidnap a bill designed to clear up legal hurdles with so-called "orphan works" to overturn a royalty rate beneficial to the music industry.
Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., will attempt to attach his amendment that slashes the royalty rate webcasters pay to musicians and record labels to the orphan works bill the Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote on today.
Last year, the federal courts upheld the royalty rate set by a special copyright tribunal that set the rate and decided that most webcasters must pay it on a per-song basis.
Since then SoundExchange, the nonprofit organization that collects digital royalties, has been negotiating with webcasters in an attempt to end the bickering.
Those talks broke off this week with both sides accusing the other of bad faith. Since then, Brownback decided to attempt to get his legislation attached to the orphan works bill. His bill would slash the royalty that webcasters would have to pay to artists and labels.
"Remarkably, SoundExchange's first offer in three months was conveniently extended to DiMA members on Monday night, presumably just after they became aware of Sen. Brownback's planned amendment," said Jonathan Potter, executive director of the Digital Media Assn.
It's a charge SoundExchange denies, as executives there said both sides had agreed to meet again at the beginning of May.
"That's just ludicrous," said one SoundExchange official.

EastEnders bosses to axe Mickey and Keith

'EastEnders' is to axe son and stepfather duo Mickey and Keith Miller because bosses at the soap feel the characters have "run out of steam".
The characters - who have been played by actors Joe Swash and David Spinx since 2003 and 2004 respectively - were told by executive producer Diederick Santer on Friday that their contracts would not be renewed.
A friend of 26-year-old Swash told The Sun: "He and David were told their characters had run out of steam by 'EastEnders' boss Diederick Santer. Joe was stunned at first. He's loved playing Mickey and felt the fans still enjoyed watching his antics."
The friend added: "But he soon realised if the stories weren't there, he didn't want to be just going through the motions. He's now thinking over his next move carefully. He doesn't want to become just another former soap star."

While the roster on England's much-hyped trip-hop label Mo'Wax is packed to the gills with quiescence accommodation boffins turned recording artists, Attica Blue devils is the nighest it comes to having an existent dance orchestra. The pancultural collective began life in 1994 when producers D'Afro (born Charlie Williams) and Tony Nwachukwu first class honours degree degree met up. D'Afro had antecedently founded London's Urban Poets Society collective, just the duo later became Attica Blue devils for their continuing studio experiments. Spell trying to sell around Japanese hip-hop records, D'Afro met up with Mo'Wax bust King James I Lavelle and was offered a spot on the label. The dyad began recording their first single entirely only when a local scholarly person, the Egyptian-born Roba El-Essawy, visited the studio during the recording for their debut single, D'Afro and Nwachukwu decided to add her to the pigeonholing. Attica Blues released their first class honours degree deuce EPs Vibraphone, Scribes 'N Dusty 45s and Pattern in 1995, and followed with devil more during 1996-97. Mo'Wax issued their self-titled debut record album in Sep 1997. D'Afro and Nwachukwu receive in any case worked as remixers for Flora Purim and Sneak Pimps as well as label-mates U.N.K.L.E., DJ Krush and Adriana Arthur Evans.
